Christ is Risen!
Amen!
The word “Amen” means “Let it be so.” “Amen” is offered at the end of every prayer, both public prayers and private prayers. In a public context, when someone is leading a prayer, the rest of the people say “Amen” at the end of the prayer. In the context of worship, the priest is leading the prayer of the liturgy (or to bless food, or bless a house, or in confession, at a wedding, etc.). The “Amen” always belongs to the people. That is because the people play an integral part in the prayer. As the priest prays to God, the people complete the prayer with the “Amen,” asking God that what was offered in prayer may come to pass. Many times in the scripture, it refers to all the people saying “Amen” and praising the Lord.
The opening line of the Liturgy, which we addressed yesterday, invites people into the blessed Kingdom of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit now and forever and to the ages of ages. The response of the people is AMEN—let it be so.
Lord, please hear my prayer. The things that I offer up in prayer, my supplications, my needs, my triumphs and my sorrows, please let them come to pass as it pleases Your will. Help me to remember in prayer that Your will governs all, and please bless me according to Your will. Lead me to a greater understanding of You throughout my life. May my lips praise and glorify You. Please bless me today and always with whatever I need to meet any challenges I face and with the inspiration and encouragement I need to grow in my faith. Amen.
May it be so! Have a blessed day!
